Please see below for our statement when we closed the business in November 2021.
We started Dr Marty’s Crumpets almost 9 years ago, as a one person operation making crumpets for our family & friends. To say that the ride has been a thrilling, humbling & joyous experience would be an understatement.
It’s with a bittersweet feeling that we are announcing we will be putting Dr Marty’s Crumpets into hibernation from Friday 12th November this year, to allow us to drop down few gears, breathe & have a change of scenery.
We always wanted to ‘work’ in our business, not just watch from the sidelines & we don’t regret that choice at all. In saying that, as anyone who has had a small business knows, it can become all consuming. We are so proud of the fact that we have always given Dr Marty’s all our time, love, effort & attention from the very first crumpet to the very last.
We want to thank you all for the wonderful love & support we have felt right from the early days. Especially to the friends & family who went above and beyond to help get the ball rolling.
That same love continued into the restaurants, cafes and our retailers. We have been truly blessed with the quality of people we have done business with over the years. They have been brilliant to deal with and we will always be grateful to them.
The last word is to thank the amazing people who have worked for us at crumpets over the years. Sure it was hot, but we had a good laugh and listened to many hours of excellent music. We managed to make great crumpets and provide great service which is all we ever hoped to do. Your dedication, good nature, hard work and friendship meant the world to us. Thank you one and all.
We wanted to retain ownership in the knowledge that even though we need a break now, we love what we have created and wanted to have the option to continue it one day if we so decide. Anyway, that is all for now and we might see you again one day for a crumpet.
